COSMETIC DENTISTRY

This can be done to correct imperfections in the appearance of your mouth. Irregularities such as crooked, cracked, or discolored teeth can make you unhappy with your smile.  We can fix it!

Usually, the upper teeth are visible only when smiling, while the lower teeth remain hidden. This is reversed when talking.  Meaning, the upper teeth remain hidden, while the lower teeth are visible. The color, alignment, and spacing of the teeth are characteristics that give the overall appearance. Any of these can be improved to give an extraordinary and stunning look to your smile.

We offer a wide variety of cosmetic options. Some of these options are whitening,  porcelain veneers, bonding, all ceramic/porcelain crowns, and  recontouring the shape of the teeth.

WHITENING
This is the procedure of making teeth whiter and more attractive. Our office uses the custom tray take home whitening method.

This method involves having impressions taken from which laboratory fabricated custom vinyl trays are created.  A carbamide peroxide gel is placed in these trays and the trays with gel are worn for about 3 hours, or overnight. The entire process takes 10-14 days of daily use. Three different strengths of gel may be used, however; the higher the strength, the greater likelihood of tooth sensitivity. The tray method is recommended for badly stained teeth, such as tetracycline staining, coffee, tea, and smoking. For maintenance of whitened teeth, the trays should be used every several months, as needed, or as desired.

VENEERS
Veneers are a dental procedure in which a thin covering is placed over the outside (visible area) of the tooth. Veneers are usually done to the part of the teeth that are visible when talking or smiling. This procedure can be direct or indirect.

The direct technique usually involves placing composite resin on the outside of the tooth. This method is usually referred to as bonding.

The indirect technique usually involves two appointments because the veneers will be fabricated at a dental laboratory. At the first appointment, the teeth are prepared, impressions are taken, and the teeth are given a temporary covering. In two to three weeks, the veneers are back from the laboratory and ready to be delivered.  The temporaries are removed and the veneers are bonded to the teeth. The laboratory fabricated veneers are made with porcelain or pressed ceramic material.  This creates a very esthetic and natural look.

The advantage of veneers versus crowns is that much less tooth structure is removed and the procedure is generally less uncomfortable. Veneers are recommended to make teeth look esthetically pleasing.  They may also restore teeth that have large fillings with little tooth structure remaining.

ALL PORCELAIN/CERAMIC CROWN
Crowns are full coverage restorations that are used to cover a tooth that is too damaged to cannot be restored with a veneer.  Crowns cover the weakened tooth while providing strength and protection against breakage.  This is a great way to treat you while creating an attractive smile. This is simular to veneers with the exception of more tooth structure being removed.

It takes two appointments to restore a tooth with a crown. First any decay is removed from the tooth and it is shaped to accept the crown. Then an impression is taken in order to fabricate a natural looking tooth.  Then, your impression is sent to a labratory to create a high-strength porcelain or all ceramic restoration.  During this time, a temporary crown is worn.  The permanent crown is delivered and adjusted as needed on the second visit.

SIMPLI 5
Many adults and teens are eager to achieve a beautiful smile without wearing braces.
This is a comfortable, fast, and convenient solution to straightening your teeth.  The invisable aligners are an express system that corrects minor  to moderate imperfections you dislike in only 5-6 months.  There are only five clear aligners and each set is only worn for 4-6 weeks at a time.  Once we determine that you are a candidate, a set of impressions will be taken and sent to a labratory for fabrication.  They will develop a set of clear aligners precisely for your smile.  The duraclear material allows for gentle, consistent movement.  You'll be able to begin treatment just 3-4 weeks later.

The aligners are virtually invisable so you can work, exercise, and socialize with minimal to no speech interference.  You will also be able to remove your aligners at meal time for dental hygiene.  These custom tailored clear aligners will give you the smile that you deserve.
